What If:-
Edward's lack of self-confidence caused by the trauma of his father’s death, carefully fostered by the Tudors, and his misplaced loyalty to an unlawful king, are part of a history we should change if we can.
In his arrogance and madness, Henry Tudor’s younger son, King Henry VIII, in order to divorce a loving and loyal wife, to marry his mistress, would destroy the Church in England in the 1530s.
If Edward had accepted Father Joseph’s offer, or if he had simply lived long enough to do it, he was the one man in England who could have stopped Henry VIII, the divorce and ‘Reformation’. Edward regarded Queen Catherine of Aragon as his niece, and he believed in lawfulness and right; in such a cause Edward would have defied Henry VIII and carried England with him, if he had not been killed some ten years earlier.
Of course, if we could change history, the rules of Historicity would still lead us to a reform of the Church: but, in this kinder history, the destruction of the Education and Welfare systems, which went with the Reformation in our present history, the hatred and martyrdom between Catholics and Protestants over so many years, the Spanish Armada, the English Civil Wars, and the despoiling of Ireland need not have happened.
Such a better history should start with the saving of the lives of Eadie, Abigail, Thomas and Aletia; the unravelling of the rot that has tainted the World over all this time.
Edward gives us evidence that Time is not as we understand it. From many sources we have evidence the Holy Grail is beyond Time, in Eward we have the Box, and that is how his story remains powerful. From the starting point of such eternal objects should it not be possible to go to any point in Time?
But how to do it? In “Edward” I declare physical time-travel to be impossible, but what about time-travel of the mind? If enough of us want to, can we warn Edward so that he changes course, making a better World for us as well as those he loved?
It is in this, above all else, dear reader, I ask for your comments, suggestions and good wishes. Can you think of some astral projection through time, or some other way, to warn Edward and change history?
For Edward, who once held the Grail, I ask, in love, for your prayers and good wishes.
